The Waverly City Council approved the first reading of a rezoning request designed to allow for a new convenience store and gas station in southwest Waverly. Casey’s Marketing Company, as well as the current property owner, Julia Engelbrecht, asked the Waverly City Council to rezone 4.4 acres at 1032 Fourth St. S.W., on the northwest corner of Fourth Street Southwest and 10th Avenue Southwest, from single-family residential to commercial to construct a new Casey’s General Store.
The council approved the first reading 4-2, with Ward 3 council member Wes Gade and Ward 5 council member Tim Kangas recording no votes. A public hearing on the matter is set for 7:00 p.m. Monday.
