The College Football Playoffs took place Monday night.
Things started with a classic Rose Bowl. A seesaw game between Oklahoma and Georgia went into double overtime where Georgia blocked a Sooner field goal and then scored a touchdown on their possession to win 54-48.
In the Sugar Bowl it was Alabama’s suffocating defense winning the night as they shutdown Clemson 24-6 in a rematch of the last two title games.
Georgia and Alabama now advance to Friday’s National Championship Game in Atlanta. The championship game will feature the 3rd and 4th ranked teams in the nation, something the old BCS system would have never set up.
In other bowl games Monday: UCF stayed the only undefeated team in the country in FBS as they beat Auburn 34-27; Nortre Dame used an amazing catch in the waning moments to beat LSU 21-17; and South Carolina ended the Big Ten’s perfect Bowl Season by coming back from down 19-3 to beat Michigan 26-19.
