American Idol finalist and Clarksville native Maddie Poppe returned home for a brief visit and some relaxation before the airing of her final performance – but not before attending a parade thrown in her honor, recorded live for the last episode. What was potentially the smallest event covered by American Idol was undoubtedly the biggest thing to happen to the Iowa town.
Jeff Kolb, Event Committee Chair for the Maddie Poppe events, recalls what a gamble the parade was from the beginning and how it all payed off:
