After serving two terms in the Iowa House, Rep. Abby Finkenauer will now shoot for the U.S. House.
A 28-year-old state legislator who would be the youngest woman elected to Congress won her Democratic primary Tuesday over three opponents, one of three GOP-held Iowa congressional seats the party is hoping to flip.
Finkenauer will face GOP U.S. Rep. Rod Blum on Nov. 6 for Northeast Iowa’s 1st Congressional District seat.
The 20-county 1st District includes Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, Dubuque and Marshalltown. The race will offer a stark contrast between a millionaire and a millennial still paying off her student loans.
