A pair of Cedar Valley drivers were involved in a fatal crash near Mason City Monday morning. The Iowa State Patrol says the driver of a 1988 Buick Century, 78-year-old Darlene Keifer from Greene, was heading east in the westbound of Highway 18, near mile marker 190, just after 11 a.m. Monday morning. According to investigators, the Buick crashed nearly head-on into a westbound van driven by 54-year-old Blaine Freeman of Elk Run Heights. Freeman was taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City. His condition has not been released. Keifer was killed in the crash.
