Thursday night on Y99.3 the Go-Hawk boys’ basketball team won an overtime thriller over Decorah 42-40. The game was tied at 35 at the end of regulation when Waverly-Shell Rock was unable to score in the final possession. In overtime the Go-Hawks went up by five before Decorah roared back to tie it at 40. In the final possession freshman Hogan Hansen drove and missed and senior Mosai Newsom put the rebound back in as the buzzer sounded. The Go-Hawk boys will be back in action Saturday in Cedar Rapids as they play West Delaware in the Wells Fargo Advisers Shootout. Tip-off Saturday on Y99.3 is at 5:15.
Thursday night the Waverly-Shell Rock girls easily handled Decorah 54-20 to keep a lead in the Northeast Iowa Conference race.
Thursday night in other boys basketball: Don Bosco hammered Clarksville 62-27 and Dike-New Hartford edged West Fork 51-49.
In area girls basketball: Aplington-Parkersburg handled North Butler 64-29, Dike-New Hartford crushed West Fork 69-37, Dunkerton beat Riceville 45-29, Grundy Center beat Tripoli 65-28, Clarksville hammered Don Bosco 62-29, Denver edged South Winn 53-51 and Waukon beat Wapsie Valley 54-33.
