ALS Awareness Month

May is ALS awareness month, bringing attention to a rare but deadly disease. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS for short, prevents the brain from interacting with muscules as normal, and will lead to loss of voluntary movement, difficulty speaking and swallowing, and can even stop breathing.

Josh Nuss, the Executive Director of the Iowa Capter of the ALS Association shares how people can get involved and help those effected by the disease:

According to Nuss, life expectancy with ALS is anywhere between 2-5 years.
