Saturday was a red letter day for the orange and black. The top-ranked Wartburg wrestling team won its 14th NCAA National Championship Saturday with 136.5 points. This was also the third-straight title for the program.
The Knights had three individual National Champions: Brock Rathbun, 133; Cross Cannone, 149, and Kyle Fank, 197.
Also on Saturday the 2nd ranked Wartburg women withstood a furious comeback attempt by East Texas Baptist to win 65-61 and advance to their 2nd Final Four in three years. The Knights women will face Bowdoin Friday night at 7:30 in Rochester, Minnesota in the Final Four. The winner will play Amherst or Thomas More Saturday night at 7:30 in the Division-3 National Basketball Title Game. The Final Four will be held in the Mayo Civic Center. KWAY Country AM 1470 FM 96.3 will have all the live action of the Knights in the Final Four.
