Thursday night the Go-Hawk softball team edged Benton Community 5-4. With the win Waverly-Shell Rock moves to 6-0 and stays undefeated on the season.
In area softball Thursday: Cedar Rapids Washington swept Cedar Falls 10-5 and 9-3, Waterloo Columbus shutout Dike-New Hartford 2-0, Don Bosco beat Tripoli 8-3, Iowa City West swept Waterloo West 16-0 and 7-4, Janesville crushed Riceville 14-4, Sumner-Fredredericksburg hammered Hudson 15-3 and Union La Porte City beat Jesup 8-2.
In area baseball Thursday: Clarksville pummeled Dunkerton 18-3, Denver beat Aplington-Parkersburg 9-5, Dike-New Hartford beat Waterloo Columbus 13-3, Don Bosco shutout Tripoli 11-0, Hudson blanked Sumner-Fredredericksburg 12-0, Jesup beat Union La Porte City 6-3, North Butler edged Northwood-Kensett 4-3 and Riceville topped Janesville 12-7.
