Wednesday night the Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team got its first win of the season as they beat West Delaware 12-6. The Go-Hawks are now 1-1 on the year. Waverly-Shell Rock will host Benton Community Thursday night at 7:30.
In area baseball Wednesday: Cedar Falls beat Benton Community 2-0, Denver split with Jesup winning 4-3 and losing 9-3, Don Bosco pounded Janesville 16-1, Nashua-Plainfield outscored Northwood-Kensett 12-7 and Mason City Newman beat North Butler 14-1.
In area softball Wednesday night: Cedar Rapids Jefferson swept Cedar Falls 13-2 and 14-2, and Nashua-Plainfield topped Northwood-Kensett 9-7.
