A local farmer found a body north of Horton, Iowa in a cornfield Wednesday that appears to belong to a missing woman.
The Bremer County Sheriff’s office say they received a report around 1:30 p.m. from a farmer that found the body of a woman near a residence at 1477 120th Street, north of Horton, while harvesting a cornfield.
Sheriff’s say after an initial investigation the body is strongly linked with Cloris Mehmen, who went missing on July 5th. The body was found half a mile from Mehmen’s residence, where she was last seen.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death and no foul play is expected.
