Decades after he died defending our country, and Iowa hero’s remains are identified.
Marine corps private first class Wilbur Mattern, of Oelwein, died in battle in 1943.
But his remains were not recovered until just recently.
He’ll be buried with full military honors on Monday at Arlington National cemetery.
