Busy Weekend for Wartburg

This weekend on KWAY Country the Wartburg wrestling team won the Lower Midwest Regional by 9 points and qualified 7 wrestler for Nationals. Zayren Terukina, Kris Rumph, and David Hollingsworth won their brackets at the regional. Brady Kyner, Joe Pins, Terukina, Rumph, Hollingsworth, Zane Mulder, and Kyle Briggs advanced to the NCAA Championship in two weeks. The 2022 NCAA Wrestling Championship is set to take place March 11-12 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sunday the Wartburg College Knights softball started the season 2-0 after defeating the St. Mary’s University of Minnesota Cardinals in a doubleheader.The Knights shutout the Cardinals in game one, winning 14-0 and allowed only two hits by the Cardinals offense. Wartburg continued the offensive attack in game two, winning 10-2 as the Knights start the season strong.

The 18th ranked Wartburg women’s basketball team fell in the A-R-C Championship Game to 5th ranked Simpson 62-59 on Saturday. The Knights will find out Monday if they get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show airs at 12:30 on ncaa.com.
