Class 2A quarterfinal action took place Monday at the State Baseball Tournament in Des Moines. It was North Linn cruising by West Branch 8-1, Des Moines Christian edging Central Lee Donnellson 9-7, Van Meter besting Underwood 17-6 in 6 innings and West Sioux ending New Hampton’s first trip to State 7-2.
With New Hampton’s loss the Cedar Valley is down to just one team left in the 2018-2019 sports season.
The Don Bosco Dons will play in the Class 1A Semifinals Thursday at 11:00 as they look to dethrone Mason City Newman. The winner of that game will play either Alburnett or Remsen St. Mary’s.
