Waverly-Shell Rock’s search for a conference home is still in limbo. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association chose not to get creative but simply to recommend to the Iowa Department of Education that the Go-Hawks not be added to the WaMac, as the school requested. The Department of Education is supposed to announce its decision regarding Waverly-Shell Rock’s request in early November. It is unsure if a straight no or yes or a more complex solution will be announced.
Waverly-Shell Rock athletic director Greg Bodensteiner explains that he is already scheduling some of next year’s events.
If the Department of Education doesn’t allow Waverly-Shell Rock into the WaMac and it doesn’t get creative with a different solution then the school could appeal back to the Department of Education. Any recourse beyond that is unclear at this point.
