Convicted Man in More Trouble

A Mount Pleasant man convicted of manslaughter in Linn County has been sentenced for theft in Floyd County, according to KIMT. 32 year old Donald Harris was sentenced to 60 days in jail for stealing seven checks from a Charles City resident back in June of 2015. He cashed those checks for nearly $5,700. He was out on pre trial release when he was involved in a shooting in Linn County. Authorities have described it as a drug robbery gone wrong. Tarrance Newman was shot and killed in the incident. Harris was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to five years in prison. The two sentences will be served concurrently.
