Council Approves Land Purchase

The Waverly City Council has voted unanimously to approve the purchase of 62.49 acres from the Neil Smith Estate for the Champions Ridge project. Monday, Ward 4 Councilman Mike Sherer and At-Large Councilwoman Edith Waldstein changed their votes to “yes” based on the assurances of representatives of the facility. Champions Ridge will be the new home to the Waverly softball diamonds and the Bremer County Fair. Following the vote, the overflow crowd gave a standing ovation.
