Two Waterloo residents are in the hospital after their car left Interstate 380 and ended up on a nearby bike trail. The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office said it happened about 6:20 a.m. Tuesday at mile marker 69. Deputies found a car lying on the Evansdale Bike Trail on River Road, beneath I-380. Waterloo firefighters had to extricate both occupants from the vehicle. Investigators said 25-year-old Aja Bennett was driving southbound on I-380 and lost control. The car left the roadway, rolled through the highway fencing, and coming to rest on the bike trail. Emergency crews took Bennett and a 27-year-old passenger to a hospital with unknown injuries.
