Debate Continues on Collective Bargaining Bill

Iowa lawmakers debate on a bill which would affect public employees across the state continued from Wednesday into the early Thursday morning.

State Senators were up all night through the morning debating the bill.

The proposed changes to Iowa’s collective bargaining law would drastically change how public sector unions negotiate and organize on behalf of roughly 180,000 people in the state.

Democrats have been filing amendments to the bill. Senators have spent the night voting on different amendments.

The House wrapped up debate at 10:10 Wednesday night. They’re expected to continue debate Thursday.

The bill is expected to pass in both chambers once it is voted on.
