Despite Loss Phyfe Has Big Night

The UNI men’s basketball team opened the season Tuesday night with a 62-58 loss to Nicholls State.
 
The Panthers were off to a strong start in the first half, but the Colonels were able to tie it up at half. Nicholls went up by 11 points in the second half to eventually seal the win.

Former Go-Hawk Austin Phyfe led the Panthers in scoring with 20 points, nine of them coming from free throws. He just missed his career high of 22 points.

The Panthers will be back in McLeod to face Vermont University at 5:00 p.m. Thursday and wrap up the week with the University of Dubuque at 5:00 on Sunday.
