Monday night on KWAY Country in District play the Janesville Wildcats topped East Buchanan 58-40 as Wiley Sherburne led all scorers with 17 points. The Wildcats will play Thursday at 6:30 at North Linn against North Tama.
Monday night on Y99.3 a couple of 2A area boys teams were bounced from the tournament. Sumner-Fredericksburg was beat by New Hampton 45-41 despite Peyton Schmitz scoring 13 points. In the nightcap Union beat Waterloo Columbus 45-37 despite Carter Gallagher netting 14 points to lead all scorers.
In other District boys basketball: Dunkerton beat Riceville 69-38, Newman knocked out Tripoli 79-56, West Fork edged Nashua-Plainfield 52-50, Wapsie Valley topped West Central 63-30 and Hudson defeated Don Bosco 73-49.
