Election Results

Tuesday was voting day and many precincts reported large turnouts to cast their ballots. Here are the results of many of the races.

Kim Reynolds made history by becoming the first woman elected Governor in the state of Iowa by winning 50% of the vote compared to Democratic challenger Fred Hubbell’s 47%.

Incumbant Mike Naig took 50% of the vote for Ag Secretary. Democrat Tim Gannon received 46%.

Republican incumbant Paul Pate successful fended off Democrat Deidre DeJear to hold on to his Secretary of State post by a 53% to 45% margin.

Democrat incumbant Tom Miller had no trouble hanging on to his Attorney General spot with 77% of the vote.

Michael Fitzgerald, a Democratic incumbant kept hold of the Treasurer’s position with 55% of the vote over Republican Jeremy Davis with 43% of the vote.

Rob Sand, a Democrat, knocked off Republican Mary Mosiman to take hold of the state Auditor’s position winning by a 51-47% margin.

Abby Finkenauer, the Democrat from Dubuque beat fellow Dubuque resident Rod Blum for the US House seat from Iowa’s first district.

Republican Sandy Salmon defeated Democrat Eric Stromberg for the State House seat from District 63.

And the Bremer County Agricultural Extension Council seats went to Nancy Foelske, Chris Pries, Bob Steffen, Mark Lenius, and Jason Lobeck.
