An inmate at the Waterloo Residential Correctional Facility has escaped, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 25 year old Tyler Maifeld, formerly of Reinbeck left the facility on Sunday without permission and failed to return. He was imprisoned on second degree Robbery and Assault Causing Serious Injury charges. He was convicted of attempting to steal a bottle of liquor from the Yes Way on San Marnan Drive in April of 2018. When the clerk confronted him, he began hitting her, causing broken facial bones. Maifeld is described as standing 5 feet tall weighing 191 pounds and is a White male of Hispanic origin. Another recent escapee of the Waterloo Residential Correctional Facility, 28 year old Lance Taylor of Fredericksburg, is accused of raping a 13 year old girl while on the loose last month.
