At least one explosion at the Poet ethanol plant outside Shell Rock on Saturday afternoon shook the ground but left behind no injuries. The explosion was described as small by the Butler County Emergency Management, although those who live in the area reported hearing a boom and feeling the ground shake. A large amount of emergency vehicles responded to the scene, which was controlled quickly and injuries were avoided. The investigation into what caused the explosion is still ongoing.
