Field Fire Threatened Head Start Building

Tuesday night a field fire broke out North of Waverly that threatened the Waverly Head Start center. The Waverly Fire Department fought the blaze for roughly two hours before it was completely extinguished.

Volunteer Fireman and Ward 2 Councilman Dan McKenzie says the fire was likely caused by a burned leaf pile that was rekindled by the windy weather.

Fortunately no-one was hurt, and the building was not damaged, save for losing a shed.
