Former 1st District Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer has announced that she will be running for Chuck Grassley’s senate seat. She said in a tweet that after 46 years Grassley has lost touch with Iowa and our Democracy. Grassley has not yet announced if he will seek reelection. An advisor to the Grassley Committe released a statement saying in part, “Ex- Representative Finkenauer is too radical for Iowa, which is why Iowans fired her just last year, giving her the distinction as the first member of Congress from Iowa to lose re-election after just one term in more than fifty years.” Republican State Senator Jim Carlin, from Sioux City and Democrat Dave Muhlbauer, from Crawford County, have also announced they will run for the seat.
