Monday the Waverly City Council heard an update from the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department on the planning of the 2018 Iowa Firefighters Association convention. Fire Chief Dennis Happel says this year the convention is set to take place on 1st Street SW as opposed to Bremer Avenue like in 2016.
Happel explains why the move was necessary:
According to the City Council many downtown businesses had expressed wishes to keep the convention on Bremer Ave as a way to celebrate making it past the construction.
