Thursday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock girls did something the program has never done. The 2nd ranked Go-Hawks defeated 3rd ranked Bishop Heelan 41-37 to advance to the State Championship for the first time is school history.
The 25-0 Go-Hawks will play 25-0 Clear Creek Amana, who beat North Polk 50-48, on Saturday for the Class 4A Championship. The Roling Ford Pregame Show featuring interviews with Natalie Beck, Lizzy Frazell, Megan Heyer and Hannah Halbach will start at 1:30 with tip-off live from Wells Fargo Arena at 2:30.
In Class 5A action: Johnston smashed Waukee 74-33 and Dowling Catholic beat Cedar Falls 59-48 to set up the title game. In Class 3A Estherville-Lincoln Center beat Mount Vernon 45-37 and Solon upset Des Moines Christian 49-25 to set up the championship game.
