Hawkeye Community College has accepted a bid to build a bookstore in the Brock Student Center, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The college held a bid opening in May but no proposals were submitted. This time around four proposals were submitted with Peters Construction’s bid of just over $240,000 being selected. The project will see a portion of the student center on the north side, where there is currently a stage, demolished and some reconfiguration with a neighboring conference room. The biggest difference between the first effort and this one is the completion date. It was originally supposed to be finished by August 6th, in time for the Fall Semester, however the lack of availability of construction materials means that time frame had to be pushed back to December. Barnes and Noble College will operate the bookstore.
