Thursday night the 8-seeded Iowa Hawkeye men bowed out of the NCAA Tournament as 9-seed Auburn won 83-75. The Hawkeyes finished the season 19-14.
The other scores in the first day of tournament action were: Maryland edged West Virginia 67-65, Furman upset Virginia 68-67, Missouri topped Utah State 76-65, Kansas hammered Howard 96-68, Alabama rolled Texas A&M Corpus Christi 96-75, San Diego State beat Charleston 63-57, Princeton upset Arizona 59-55, Arkansas topped Illinois 73-63, Duke ran by Oral Roberts 74-51, Northwestern beat Boise State 75-67, Texas slammed Colgate 81-61, Houston beat North Kentucky 63-52, Tennessee edged Louisiana 58-55, UCLA cruised by UNC-Ashville 86-53 and Penn State beat Texas A&M 76-59.
