A strong odor of gas forced the evacuation of the school in Janesville on Monday morning. Children and staff were taken to Messiah Lutheran Church for about an hour and a half until the All Clear was given.

The cause is still unclear but Meaney says some work had been done in the boiler room. A smell that emanated from south of the school may have played a part as well.
