Wartburg men’s and women’s track & field began their quest for a national title on Thursday, May 27 at the Irwin Belk Track at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C. during the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Senior Joe Freiburger headlined the day for the Knights as he placed fourth in the 10k race and earned an All-American spot on the podium. The Holy Cross, Iowa native finished with a time of 30:21.75, which is the fourth best time in Wartburg history.
Senior Carina Collet and sophomore Natalie Paulson competed in the 10k final to wrap up the day for the Wartburg women. Collet finished in 14th w while Paulson took 17th.
The Knights have several events poised to score points on the men’s and women’s side. Action resumes Friday.
