Waterloo Fire Rescue battled a large field fire along Dunkerton Road Sunday afternoon. The fire originated in a machine shed used for storage and to work on motorcycles. When firefighters arrived on scene they found the building fully engulfed in flames. The high winds allowed the fire to quickly spread to an adjacent field. Homes in the area were evacuated and a portion of Dunkerton Road was shut down. Crews from several agencies worked together to prevent the fire from spreading to any other structures. The cause of the fire is still being investigated but foul play is not suspected.
