On Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 8:00 PM, the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a large metal building on fire as well as a camper at 1601 S. Union Road. First arriving units found a large amount of fire coming from the structure. Crews were advised everyone had evacuated the structure. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the adjacent field. The structure suffered major fire, smoke, and water damage. Cedar Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by Cedar Falls Utilities, Mercy One Paramedics, Black Hawk County Dispatch, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, and Dike Fire Department.
