The project to replace the lift station along East Bremer Avenue in Waverly is underway. This project will replace a lift station that has served the city for nearly 50 years and has come to the end of its service life. The new lift station is being built farther away from the roadway to provide safer and more efficient access for maintenance crews and to help ensure reliable operation for years to come. A lift station is a pumping facility that helps move wastewater when gravity alone cannot do the job. Lift stations collect sewage and pump it to a higher elevation so it can continue on to the wastewater treatment plant. The project is expected to be completed by winter.
