No Iowa vs ISU or UNI Games

The Big Ten Conference has announced that its Fall sports will only compete in conference games and matches. This means the Iowa Hawkeyes won’t be playing Iowa State or UNI in any sport including football this Fall. UNI will feel the brunt of this as they were expecting around $650,000 in revenue from the Iowa game and the Panthers athletic program is already making cuts as it anticipates its budget falling over $1 million short.

UNI Athletic Director David Harris shared this statement: “We are extremely disappointed that the Big Ten has chosen to compete in conference only games this fall. This will eliminate opportunities for several of our sports programs. The cancellation of our football game against the University of Iowa has a significant financial impact on our department. However, we will continue to prepare for the upcoming seasons of competition and support our student-athletes during this challenging time. ”
