After waiting several months for an answer—Iowa Hawkeye defensive end Drew Ott found out today that his appeal for a medical redshirt season has been denied.
Ott suffered a season ending knee injury in the fifth game last year. Both coach Kirk Ferentz and Ott expressed disappointment at today’s NCAA ruling and the overall process. But even with that Ferentz said Ott was an outstanding player for the Hawkeyes and extremely smart with a bright future ahead of him.
Ott says the process is quite lengthy and very confusing—but now that he knows the outcome— he is excited and confident about making it to the next level.
Ott says he hasn’t talked to any NFL teams yet— but he does have an agent lined up as he continues his rehab.
