Police Respond to Shootings

Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man in a deadly Waterloo shooting. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Eugene Love, Jr was arrested Thursday on a charge of intimidation with a weapon. Bond was set at $100,000, and police said the investigation is ongoing. Police wrote in court records that the Love is suspected of shooting into a vehicle in which 18-year-old Courtney Harris was seated. Harris died at the scene. Love pleaded guilty on January 13th to Assault charges resulting from an incident in which he and others hit and kicked a man outside the Speedy Mart on Linn Street.

Waterloo Police are investigating a shooting from Thursday night, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police were called to the 900 block of Cutler Street around 5:25. Witnesses say two people approached a parked vehicle and opened fire. The vehicle took off and the assailants ran away on foot. While the vehicle was riddled with bullets no serious injuries were reported. No arrests have been reported to this point.
