The Waverly-Shell Rock baseball team lost to Western Dubuque Tuesday 6-3 in its season opener. Wednesday they’ll travel to Manchester today to take on West Delaware in a rematch of last year’s sub-state championship. First pitch will be at 7:00.
Other scores in high school baseball Tuesday were: Cedar Falls blanked Waterloo West 10-0, Nashua-Plainfield outscored Rockford 9-3 and Waterloo East beat Waterloo Columbus 9-3.
Tuesday night in their season opener Waverly-Shell Rock softball beat Clear Lake 10-0 in 6 innings and Go-Hawk pitchers struck out 17 Clear Lake batters.
Tuesday in Prep softball: Central City blasted Nashua-Plainfield 13-3, Waterloo East split with Cedar Rapids Washington losing 10-5 and winning 3-1, Sumner-Fredericksburg crushed Wapsie Valley 16-0, and Waterloo West swept Dubuque Senior 8-7 and 6-1.
