Monday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock girls basketball team got a big win as they knocked off Class 3A 2nd ranked Clear Lake 58-35. The Go-Hawks only led by 5 points at halftime but the Lions 3’s stopped falling in the second half and Waverly-Shell Rock played efficient offense to pull away in the second half. Abby Draper scored 19 and Britney Young poured in 17 for Waverly-Shell Rock.
Monday night in area girls basketball: Janesville hammered Wapsie Valley 41-25, North Linn beat Aplington-Parkersburg 56-32, Clarksville ran by North Butler 68-35, Dunkerton crushed Postville 65-36, Springville hammered Waterloo Christian 61-14, Jesup crushed Don Bosco 60-10 and Tripoli beat Rockford 70-48.
In area boys basketball: Dunkerton edged Postville 56-52, Jesup beat Don Bosco 54-49, Springville topped Waterloo Christian 75-51, Clarksville edged North Butler 52-49 and Wapsie Valley beat Janesville 52-36.
