Tuesday night in boys basketball on KWAY Country the Waterloo East Trojans beat the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks. The Go-Hawks led by as many as 15 points due to a hot shooting first quarter where they hit seven 3-pointers, but East stormed back late with 28 points from Tyrese Nickelson to win 66-62. Trey Angel led the Go-Hawks with 17 points and freshman Hogan Hansen netted 15 in the loss. This was the season opener for both teams.
Tuesday night on Y99.3 the Dunkerton Raiders swept Don Bosco in a doubleheader. The Raider girls won 57-28 led by Kaitlyn Wilder’s 16 points. Dunkerton boys beat Don Bosco75-66 with Zach Johnson scoring 20 for the Raiders.
In other girls scores Tuesday night: Aplington-Parkersburg beat Wapsie Valley 67-23, Northwood-Kensett outlasted North Butler 30-20, Dike-New Hartford topped Sumner-Fredericksburg 63-48, Rockford beat Nashua-Plainfield 53-37, Janesville bested Clarksville 44-35 and Denver beat Union 67-45.
In boys scores: Rockford outscored Nashua-Plainfield 86-54, North Butler beat Northwood-Kensett 54-42 andTripoli topped Riceville 41-33.
