Tuesday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock girls and boys basketball teams swept Oelwein. The Go-Hawk girls won 68-27 setting the 35 point rule continuous clock into motion during the win. 10 different Go-Hawks scored in the victory. The Waverly-Shell Rock boys beat Oelwein 63-49 led by Luke Velky’s 23 points. Both the Go-Hawk boys and girls are now 1-0 in conference play.
Tuesday night on Y99.3 the Wapsie Valley girls and boys swept Denver. The Warrior girls won 64-51. In the boys game Wapsie Valley won a shootout 80-75 led by Paul Rundquist’s 43 point night.
Tuesday night in other area girls basketball: Aplington-Parkersburg edged Waterloo Columbus 63-59, Cedar Falls trounced Xavier 63-32, Central Springs beat North Butler 47-38, Clarksville topped Riceville 50-34, Dike-New Hartford got by Jesup 58-33, Dubuque Hempstead beat Waterloo West 67-59, Janesville topped Don Bosco 55-37, Lin-Marr crushed Waterloo East 73-47, Mason City Newman outscored Nashua-Plainfield 77-23 and Sumner-Fredericksburg beat Hudson 64-39.
In area boys basketball: Aplington-Parkersburg whooped Waterloo Columbus 79-45, Cedar Falls got by Waterloo West 78-50, Clarksville beat Riceville 63-52, Dike-New Hartford topped Jesup 63-54, Don Bosco ran by Janesville 62-21, Hudson beat Sumner-Fredericksburg 59-46, Mason City Newman topped Nashua-Plainfield 63-52 and North Butler beat Central Springs 59-27.
