Tuesday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock boys basketball team won at least a share of the Northeast Iowa Conference Championship. The Go-Hawks beat Charles City 62-57 to at least share the conference title. If Charles City loses Friday to Decorah the Go-Hawks will win the championship outright. Last night Waverly-Shell Rock led by nearly double-digits but couldn’t hit free throws down the stretch keeping the Comets in the game until Mosai Newsom drained two charity shots to seal the game. Four Go-Hawks finished in double-digits scoring while Jack Molstead led the Comets with 21 points.

Tuesday night in girls basketball Waverly-Shell Rock crushed Charles City 72-27.

Tuesday night in other area girls basketball: Cedar Falls smashed Dubuque Wahlert 73-34, Colo-Nesco beat Janesville 51-40, Dubuque Hempstead topped Waterloo East 58-43, Hudson edged BCLUW 49-41, Jesup beat Columbus 58-32, North Iowa topped Nashua-Plainfield 54-33 and Waterloo West got by Dubuque Senior 61-46.

Tuesday night in boys basketball: Cedar Falls beat Dubuque Wahlert 72-56, Denver outscored Union 75-51, Dike-New Hartford crushed Sumner-Fredericksburg 71-43, Don Bosco topped Riceville 59-31, Dubuque Hempstead outpaced Waterloo East 89-56, Dubuque Senior topped Waterloo West 68-45, Janesville edged Colo-Nesco 52-49, Jesup clipped Columbus 50-47, North Iowa smashed North Butler 50-23 and Wapsie Valley beat Turkey Valley 63-60.
