Tuesday night on KWAY Country the 6th ranked Waverly-Shell Rock girls beat Cedar Rapids Kennedy 62-54 to move to 2-0 on the season. In the win senior Brenna Bodensteiner scored 20 points and surpassed Katie Harken’s school record 122 career 3-pointers made.
Tuesday night on Y99.3 Aplington-Parkersburg swept Sumner-Fredericksburg in a basketball doubleheader. In the girls game the 9th ranked Falcons won 53-47 despite Isabelle Elliott’s 23 points for the Cougars. In the boys game Aplington-Parkersburg won 76-38.
In other girls basketball: Grundy Center edged Denver 49-47, Dunkerton thumped Clarksville 75-38, Waterloo Christian crushed Janesville 72-32, Riceville beat Tripoli 62-23, Wapsie Valley topped AGWSR 49-45 and Waterloo West beat Crestwood 68-41.
In boys basketball: Grundy Center edged Denver 51-49, Wapsie Valley crushed AGWSR 62-14, Dunkerton ran over Clarksville 90-44 and Waterloo Christian beat Janesville 63-44.
