Thursday night on Y99.3 in high school soccer the Denver girls edged the Hudson Pirates 2-1 and in boys action the Pirates scored with eight minutes left to beat Denver 1-0.
Thursday night in girls soccer the 5th ranked Waterloo Columbus Sailors snuck away with a 1-0 win over Marshalltown. The game was scoreless through regulation and both overtimes forcing the game to go to penalty kicks. In penalities the Sailors outkicked the Bobcats 3-1 to secure victory.
In other girls soccer Cedar Falls shutout Cedar Rapids Jefferson 4-0 and Waterloo East beat Cedar Rapids Kennedy in penalties 2-1.
In area boys soccer Thursday night: Cedar Falls edged Cedar Rapids Jefferson 2-1, Waterloo Columbus blanked Postville 2-0, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura outscored Charles City 8-2 and Waterloo West nipped Cedar Rapids Xavier 4-3.
