Law enforcement and Emergency Management officials are asking the public to stay out of Greene at this time due to many flooded streets, downed trees and power lines. The Shell Rock River has left its banks in many areas and travel is not recommended in the Greene and Clarksville areas.

Residents were up late into the night preparing sandbags.

The National Weather Service is predicting a heavy rainfall in the Upper Cedar River Watershed through this evening.
Based on the National Weather Service’s river level predictions for Charles City and Janesville, city officials for Waverly are predicting that the Cedar River in Waverly will rise to 14.1 feet on Saturday, September 24. This river level is about one foot higher than the minor flood event on May 22, 2013.
Community officials will continue to monitor the predicted rain event and are prepared to take action.
Residents of Waverly should be flood aware and continue to monitor.
Beaver Creek in New Hartford is expected to reach near flood stage of 11.9 feet Friday. Residents are asked to be prepared.
