According to multiple sources including the Register and the Gazette, a major change is coming to high school basketball. Following Sunday’s Iowa High School Athletic Association rules meeting a 35-second shot clock has been approved to be implemented in the ’22-’23 school year. The report says it will be for boys and girls at the varsity level only on the onset. In May the National Federation of State High School Associations announced that member state organizations could begin using shot clocks in the ’22-’23 school year. Prior to that ruling state organizations would be expelled from the national organization if they chose to add a shot clock. Iowa’s announcement is expected to be made at 9:00 Tuesday morning.
