South Winn Students Expected to be Arrested

Decorah Newspapers are reporting that five South Winneshiek students are expected to be charged or referred to Juvenile Court in connection with at least two assaults. The assualts are alleged to have taken place at the school and in a rural location near Fort Atkinson. Due to a conflict of interest the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office has turned the investigation overt to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office. South Winn superintendent, high school principal, and athletic director Kris Einck told the newspaper the school is also conducting its own investigation but it remains unclear if it will result in any punishment. Former KWWL anchor Amanda Goodman posted a blog earlier in the month implicating not only students, but faculty and the community for allegedly covering up the crime. Goodman was unable to provide any details, however. That blog post has since been removed.
