Thursday was day one of the State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines. Day one was highlighted by Mackenzie Goeller of Wapsie Valley winning the Class 1A girls shot put with a throw of 40 feet 2 inches earning 10 points for her team. In Class 1A girls long jump Lily Liekweg of Janesville finished 8 with a jump of 16 feet one and a quarter inch, that jump earned the Wildcats a point.
