Waterloo Police say an 18 year old who is already a convicted felon has been arrested for firing a gun at a passing car in February, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Andrew Spates III has been charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Property Damage, Carrying Weapons, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Witnesses reported seeing Spates stand outside and shoot at a black car that drove by on February 18th. No injuries were reported but a bullet entered a nearby home and struck a TV. Officers found 20 spent 40 caliber shell casings at the scene. Spates is already awaiting trial for a June incident where police found a loaded 9mm pistol in his car. He is prohibited from handling firearms for a 2021 charge of Intimidation With a Weapon charge in juvenile court.
